不可數名詞

有關不可數名詞的文法規則其實很簡單
只要記得因為它"不可數"，所以不行

1. 在它前面加上數字或是冠詞"a"
2. 在字尾加上-s or -es

最近天氣這麼冷，起床變得好痛苦阿

關於起床，英文有兩個大家常搞錯的用法，現在就來簡單說明一下

1. wake up “醒來”，指張開眼睛，從睡夢中醒來

2. get up “起床” ，從床上起來，通常指開始一天的作息

《每日一字》辭職、下台

resign v. 意為辭職，名詞型態為resignation

e.g. KMT Chairman Ma Ying-jeou said he will be announcing his official resignation as party leader in order to take responsibility for the KMT's massive election loss.

國民黨主席馬英九表示他將正式宣布辭去黨主席，以為此次選舉慘敗負責。

“下台”則為比較口語的表達方式，英文是”step down”

e.g. Christie’s CEO Steven Murphy will step down from the top role at the London-based auction house at the end of this year.

佳士德的執行長Steven Murphy會在今年底退下職位。

前綴 (prefix) out-

前綴out- 帶有”多過”、”勝過”的意思，可用來加在動詞前方，例如

outspend 意為”花的錢超過”

Men over 50 outspend women of the same age. 50歲以上的男人花的錢比同年齡的女人多。

outlive 意為”活得久”

He outlived his wife by five years. 他比他太太多活了五年。

Prosecutors yesterday seized Ting Hsin International Group (頂新國際集團) former CEO Wei Ying-chung's (魏應充) various assets, including stocks, real estate and bank accounts, as a preemptive move to prevent Wei from transferring them to other parties.

下次就可以跟外國朋友一起抱怨某部電影有多爛了

apply to 和 apply for 兩個都是正確用法，但是兩者的使用方式是不同的

apply to 著重以申請者的身分向某個單位提出申請，所以後面要接受理申請的單位或機關。

例如:

I applied to four universities and was accepted by all of them.

apply for 著重透過申請的過程取得你想要的東西，所以後面要接你想得到的那一樣東西。

例如:

Experts have raised concerns over the security of "cloud" storage sites following the leak of intimate pictures of celebrities.

在女星私密(intimate)照片流出(leak)事件後，專家提出了對於雲端儲存網站(cloud storage site) 的疑慮(raise concerns 提出疑慮)

It is understood some of the images were obtained from services such as Apple iCloud that back up content from devices on to the internet.

據了解這些照片是由像是Apple iCloud這樣的雲端服務網站取得。這些網站提供的是從行動裝置(device)經由網路備份(back up)到雲端的服務。

"It is important for celebrities and the general public to remember that images and data no longer just reside on the device that captured it," said Ken Westin, security analyst at Tripwire.

專家指出，不論是名人或ㄧ般大眾都必須切記照片不再只會儲存在原本的裝置中(而是會被備份至雲端)。
