permit 可當動詞也可以當名詞使用。當它當名詞時，和另一個名詞 permission有什麼不同呢?
permit (n.) 為官方的書面許可文件
例如 work permit 工作證、parking permit 停車證
A permit is required for fishing in the canal.
This parking lot is for permit holders only.
permission (n.) 為允許、許可，是抽象名詞而非實體文件

"想要/希望" 應該是大家在現實生活中常常需要表達的概念吧
這個概念在英文中可以用 "want" "hope" 和 "would like" 來表達
在文法上，這三個字(或片語)後面要接不定詞 (to + 原型動詞) ，詳如下方圖示。
在文意上，

as of 這個片語後面接的一定是時間點，例如 as of today, as of July 24, 2014
但很妙的是，這個片語同時具有兩個完全相反的意思，那就是(1)從這個時間點開始 或是 (2) 截至這個時間點為止 (as of= from or until a given time)。所以上面的 as of today 就會有兩種意思，請見下例:
As of today the prices of mobile data roaming are by 50% cheaper within the EU.
截至今天為止，歐盟國家的行動數據漫遊費用比以往便宜了50%
As of today, no late homework is going to be accepted.
