這題的關鍵在於主要動詞"asked"
當主要動詞為 ask (如本題)/command/demand/beg/order/require/suggest/advise/insist 等帶有 「命令、要求、提議、建議」意思的動詞，後面又接有 that子句 的時候，
後面的 that子句 會帶有「應該」的語意 (但不一定會被翻譯出來)，例如

從題幹中我們發現了 ask+that子句，所以知道空格的地方會是 should+動詞
