分詞片語

關係子句中的動詞為一般動詞且為主動做該動作時，可省略「關係代名詞」，並將「動詞」改成現在分詞。

如此簡化後的型態就稱為分詞片語(現在分詞)，作用為修飾前面的名詞。

這個概念也是多益考試中常考的，例如以下這題

Of all the documentaries shown this year, the one about the penguins ________ each other survive moved me the most.

(A) help

(B) being helped

(C) helping

(D) were helping

the one (documentary) about the penguins ________ each other survive moved me the most.
 

粗體字的部份是主詞，意為"那部關於企鵝互相幫助彼此生存的記錄片" 。依照語意我們知道這個部份需用關係子句寫成，如以下

the one about the penguins which help each other survive 

可惜的是，這個寫法沒有出現在選項中，所以就要來想想看是否有其他的寫法了

經過精密的分析(誤)，我們發現這個關係子句符合上述之原則 (關係子句中的動詞為一般動詞且為主動做該動作)，因此可以將他改為現在分詞的分詞片語。

改寫步驟

1: 省略關係代名詞 "which"

2: 動詞"help"改成現在分詞"helping"

結果就會變成

the one about the penguins which helping each other survive 

底線部份為分詞片語，修飾前面的 "penguin"

所以這題正確答案為 (C)
